Gwynneth Stange

GWYNNETH EDNA WALKER CRILL BENAGE STANGE ROCKFORD - Gwynneth Edna Walker Crill Benage Stange born December 10, 1928, in Rockford, Illinois, the daughter of Alfred and Elizabeth (Liewellyn) Walker. She graduated from Rockford East High School in 1947. Lived most of her life in Rockford. Married Willard Crill in December 1947. He died October 1968, following an extended illness. Married Wesley Benage in March 1970. He passed away January 1986. Married Rueben Stange in November 1986. He died June 1995. They lived at Lake Summerset for nine years. She worked 14 years in the sales department of Weiman Furniture Mfg. Co. She enjoyed classical music, sewing, playing "500" and gardening. She, along with her husband, Wes Benage, was part of the local "Zion Hee Haw" group for ten years. She was a former member of State Street Baptist Church, former member of Court Street United Methodist Church where she was a Sunday School teacher, President of the Choir Mother's Guild, Vice President and Treasurer of the United Methodist Women, Secretary of the Campus Ministry and a circle chairman. Former member of St. John's Lutheran Church of Pecatonica, former member of Trinity Lutheran Church of Durand and former member of Christ United Methodist Church. Former Vice President of the Rockford District United Methodist Women and member and former President of the Wesley Willows Auxiliary. She was currently a member of Aldersgate United Methodist Church. Survivors include two daughters, Marla (Richard) Heller of Rancho Mirage, California and Madelynn Johnson of Rockford; two granddaughters, Heather (Peter) Goral and Lindsay N. Johnson, both of Rockford; two brothers, Thomas Walker of Rancho Sante Fe, California and the Rev. Liewellyn (Patricia) Walker of Milwaukee, WI; two stepsons, Raymond Benage of Arizona and Duane Benage of Indiana; six step grandchildren, Brenda, Melissa, Megan and Justin Benage, Emily Peterson and Carrie Daly; one great-grandson, James Goral; and many nieces and nephews. She was also predeceased by her parents; two sisters, Deborah Walker and Shirley Null; one step grandson, Jeffrey Benage; and her three husbands. A special remembrance to Edwin Hunt, a loving friend and companion. Memorial services will be held Friday, July 19, 2013, at 11 a.m. at Aldersgate United Methodist Church, 4055 N.
