Harold Winne Sr.

HAROLD C. WINNE SR. MACHESNEY PARK - Harold C. Winne Sr., of Machesney Park died unexpectedly Thursday, Nov. 22, 2012, in Winter Haven, Fla. Born June 26, 1934, in Poplar Grove; son of Raymond and Hazel (Sturgis) Winne. Married Gail J. Brown on April 9, 1954, in San Francisco. Harold was a 1952 graduate of North Boone High School and served in the U.S. Marines from 1952 to 1955 as a master sergeant. He was inducted into the Beloit Bowlers Hall of Fame in 1991, and was an avid golfer, participating in many leagues and tournaments. Additionally, Harold was an ardent follower of his grandchildren's sports and activities. He was a member and past president of the Lion's Club, and a longtime member of the Moose Club. Survived by his loving wife, Gail; sons, Harold Jr. (Valerie L.) and Howard (Fawnda J.); grandchildren, Ben, Rachel, Daniel, Sarah, Bethany, Michael, Adam Wells and Alec Wells; six great-grandchildren; many nieces and nephews. Predeceased by parents, Ray and Hazel; brother, Clifford (Pat); sisters, Doris (Dick) Welch and Louise (Bruce) Burton. Memorial service at 7 p.m. Friday, Nov. 30, in Poplar Grove United Methodist Church, with visitation from 5 p.m. to time of service; the Rev. Paul Nolden will officiate.
