HORACE 'BUD' HANVY SR., 78 ROCKFORD - Horace "Bud" E. Hanvy Sr., 78, of Rockford, formerly of Russelville, AL passed away Tuesday, December 17, 2013. Born on December 22, 1934, in Alabama to Edward and Wynema Hanvy (Lackey). Horace worked as a galvanizer and plater at several locations in the area. He loved spending time fishing, but most of all spending time with his family. A mentor to all, Horace loved telling stories, singing and always had a good joke. He is survived children, Deborah Kearby, Paulette Martinez, Joseph Hanvy, Horace (Nancy McWirther) Hanvy Jr., Wynemia Martinez, David (Carolyn) Hanvy and Sharon (Ben) Stehley; fourteen grandchildren and several great-grandchildren; sister, Shirley (late Don) Howard; brother, Ernest (late Debbie) Hanvy; special niece, Denise Hanvy; and numerous nieces and nephews. He is predeceased by his wife, Mary Hanvy (Patton); daughters, Debra Porter and Karen Hanvy; brothers, Ed (Theresa) Hanvy Jr. and Kenneth Hanvy; and sister, Nelly Cofield. A Memorial service will be held at 5 p.m. Friday, December 20, 2013, at Christenson Funeral Home & Crematory, 925 3rd Ave., Rockford. Cremation services private.
