Jack Funk

JACK M. FUNK, 80 ROCKTON - On Saturday, January 18th, Jack passed from a sudden illness in his home with his wife and daughters by his side. The son of Andrew and Marjorie Funk. Jack was born on July 30, 1933 in Rockford, IL. Jack was a resident of Rockton his whole life, graduated from Hononegah High School and continued to support the Indians in many sporting events. Jack was an avid Chicago Bears fan and Chicago Cub fan. He was a proud member of the US Marine Corps and a veteran of the Korean Conflict. He married Sharon Baumgartner on August 8, 1958, at the Old Stone Church in Rockton, where they are still members. Jack retired from Illinois Water Treatment, and then pursued his dream and built the Victorian Golf Course. Jack's greatest accomplishment was his family. His survivors include his wife, Sharon; daughters, Sheli Bright (Harold) and Kathi Palches (Brad); his grandchildren, Jacquelyn (Bill), Torri (Sean), Kathy (Jeremiah), Stefan (Mary), Abby (Ryan), Calissa (Jerry), and Remi; great-grandchildren, Kennady, Benjamin, Kymbrie, Jaxson, and Brooke; special family members, Randy Hyslope and Peter Garofalo. Jack was welcomed to his heavenly home by his daughter, Vicki Jo; his granddaughter, Emilee Rose; his parents; and his two brothers. "BAYONETS"! Funeral ceremonies to be held at 10:30 a.m. Friday, January 26, 2014 in the Old Stone Church 101 East Union St. Rockton, IL with Pastor Daniel Herman officiating. Burial will be in the Rockton Township Cemetery. A visitation will be held at McCorkle Funeral Home, Rockton Chapel 767 N. Blackhawk Blvd. from 4 to 7 p.m. Thursday.
