JENNIE M. WOODS, 82 ROCKFORD - Jennie M. Woods, 82, of Rockford departed this earthly life Sunday, Dec. 2, 2012, after a short illness. She was born March 28, 1930, in Whiteville, Tenn., daughter of John and Emma Marie Perry. Jennie lived in Rockford 56 years, coming here from Whiteville. She was employed as an assembler by Bergstrom Manufactory 26 years before retiring in 1992. Jennie was a member of Bethel Baptist Church for 56 years, serving on the Mothers Board and on the kitchen committee. She was a volunteer at St. Elizabeth's Soup Kitchen. She also volunteered and helped financially support the Shelter on Cedar Street. She attended schools in Whiteville and later received her GED. Jennie leaves to cherish many loving memories, three daughters, "Peg" (Ron) Williams, Juanita Woods (George Russey) and Delores Woods (Jeff Walker); four sons, Carie (Donna), Alex (Mary), Donnie (Ellen) and James Woods; 34 grandchildren, 60 great-grandchildren; three great-great grandchildren; sister, Catherine Perry; brother, Loston Perry; a host of other relatives and friends, including special friends, Cora Woods, Grace Sowell, Velvet and Ozie Woods; and special cousin, Glen Perry. She was predeceased by parents; daughter, Margaret Watkins; sister, Marie Pirtle; brothers, Mack and Will Sidney Perry. Services will be at 11 a.m. Friday, Dec. 7, at Bethel Baptist Church, 724 Harrison Ave., with Pastor Kerry L. Newburn officiating. Burial in Cedar Bluff Cemetery.
