Lacy Collier

MOTHER, LACY MAE COLLIER, 81 ROCKFORD - Mother, Lacy Mae Collier, 81, of Rockford departed this earthly life Tuesday, Feb. 25, 2014, after a short illness. She was born the 24th day of July, nineteen hundred and thirty two, in Ellaville, Georgia, to the late Pernola Westberry-Millirons and Son Thomas. She was educated at Schley County school system in Georgia. She received Christ at a young age. Lacy married Henry Collier in Ellaville in 1950. Lacy moved to Rockford in 1972, coming from Moultrie, GA. She was employed as a bus driver by the Rockford Board of Education for 15 years before retiring. Lacy was a member of Browns Temple Church of God in Christ, serving as a Mother of the church. Lacy leaves to cherish many loving memories, three daughters, Linda Collier, Elaine (Dale) Theobald and Paula (James) Hallden-Collier; daughter-in-law, Connie Collier; four sons, Robert (Cheryl), Bruce (Rosalind), Kelvin (Evelyn), and Roger Collier; 33 grandchildren; and a host of great-grandchildren; devoted friends, Arletha Sanders and Pastor Curtis Walker; a host of other beloved relatives and friends. She was predeceased by her parents; husband; and four sons, Henry, Curtis, Stanley and Ray Collier; daughter, Rose Collier; and grandson, Dwayne C. Buchanan. Services will be held 11 a.m. Saturday, March 8, 2014, at St. Luke Missionary Baptist Church, 2919 19th Street. Burial in Cedar Bluff Cemetery. Visitation from 9 a.m. to the time of service.
