LAURA A. MARCONI, 81 ROCKFORD - Laura A. Marconi, 81, of Rockford passed away peacefully Friday, Oct. 5, 2012, in Provena St. Anne Center, surrounded by her family, from Parkinson disease. She was born July 31, 1931, in Rockford; the daughter of Leonard and Velia Marinelli. She lived her entire life in Rockford. She married Frank J. Marconi on Dec. 2, 1950, in Rockford. She was a member of St. Anthony Church. Laura was one of the first Lay teachers in the Rockford Diocese. She taught at St. Anthony's School for 10 years and at St. Bridget's and St. Bernadette's. She was a past chairman of the Pink Ball, past president of Provena St. Anne Auxiliary and a member of the Catholic Women's League. She graduated from St. Peter's Grade School and Muldoon High School in Rockford, and Siena College in Memphis, Tenn. Survivors include husband, Frank J. Marconi; son, Joseph F. (Trish) Marconi; granddaughter, Madison Marconi; sister, Therese (Dr. Joseph A.) Zammuto; brother, Dr. Frank (Jeanie) Marinelli; cousins, Gloria Fiorenza and Eleanor Biasin; and loving nieces and nephews. Predeceased by parents, Leonard and Velia Marinelli; and brother, Louis Marinelli. The family wishes to thank the staff of Provena St. Anne Center for the loving and compassionate care they gave Laura during her illness. Funeral Mass at 11 a.m. Wednesday, Oct. 10, in St. Anthony Church, with visitation from 9 a.m. to service time; Franciscan Friars will officiate. Interment in Calvary Cemetery.
