Laura Schweppe

LAURA EMMA SCHWEPPE, 91 ROCKFORD - Laura Emma Schweppe, 91, of Rockford passed away peacefully in her home, Saturday, March 1, 2014. Laura was born July 10, 1922, in South Branch Township, Rural Truman, Minnesota, daughter of Albert and Alvina (Mumme) Schwanz. She graduated from the University of Minnesota, obtaining a degree in nursing. She married Oscar (Rick) Erich Schweppe in 1945. She was a member of Redeemer Lutheran Church in Rockford, and as an avid reader she developed and expanded the church's library. Laura and Oscar had a wonderful loving life together, retiring early, and enjoying their time golfing and traveling. Separated briefly by death, they are now reunited. She is survived by her children, John (Cathy) Schweppe and Julie (Robert) Grossner; grandchildren, Kersten (Erin) and Andrew Schweppe, Ross and Erich Grossner; great- grandchildren, Logan and Elizabeth Schweppe; sisters, Luella (Mike) Smith and Marlys (Bob) Coplan. She is predeceased by her parents; brother, Raymond Schwanz; and sisters, Irene Henton, Arlene Lindsoe and Helen Schofield. A Celebration of Life and open house will be held from 2 to 4 p.m. Sunday, March 16, 2014, in Laura's home. Memorials in Laura's name may be directed to the Disabled American Veterans (DAV), 212 W.
