Marie Griffis

MARIE GRIFFIS, 93 CALEDONIA - Marie Griffis, 93, of Caledonia died peacefully Wednesday, Oct. 10, 2012, in Northwoods Care Center, after a long illness. Marie was born Nov. 25, 1918, in Byron; the daughter of Urban and Edna (Grady) Crull. She married Marlyn B. Griffis on May 29, 1938, in Poplar Grove. Marie was a loving mother to five wonderful boys. She was a member of Hunter United Methodist Church, the church's ladies aid society, Order of the Eastern Star and enjoyed socializing with her friends. Marie is loved and will be missed by her sons, Duane (Marjorie) of Davis, Don (Sandra) of Irving, Texas, Rodney (Julie) of Sycamore and John (Carmen) of Plainfield; numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren and nieces and nephews. Predeceased by her parents; husband, Marlyn; son, William; four sisters; four brothers; and great-granddaughter, Chelsea Hofbauer. Service at 10 a.m. Tuesday, Oct. 16, in Hunter United Methodist Church, with the Rev. Tom Hay, pastor officiating. Burial in Livingston Cemetery. Visitation from 5 to 8 p.m. Monday, Oct. 15, in Buck-Wheeler-Hyland Funeral Home, 218 W. Hurlbut Ave., Belvidere. Memorials can be given in care of Hunter United Methodist Church in Marie's memory.
