RICHARD 'DICK' N. WELDEN, 78 ROCKFORD - Richard "Dick" N. Welden, 78, of Rockford died Monday, Dec. 31, 2012, in Rockford Memorial Hospital. Born Sept. 21, 1934, in Rock-ford, the son of Earl A. and Vernie (Salisbury) Welden. He married Norma Stevenson on Oct. 2, 1954; she predeceased him April 8, 2004. He then married Mary Wickenberg-Lindsay on Nov. 11, 2005. Dick was a graduate of University of Wisconsin- Madison. He and his brother, Bill ran Welden Electric for many years. Dick was a member of N.E.C.A. He belonged to the Shriners, both as an active member of the Oriental band and founding member of the Magic Carpets. Dick also enjoyed woodworking and the outdoors. He is survived by wife, Mary; children, Gary (Marilyn) Welden, Jacqueline (Joseph) Scordato, Cindy (Daniel) Waeffler and Richard Welden; grandchildren, Kate, Sarah, Jon, Jocelyn, Jessica, Russell, Tiffany and Crystal; six great-grandchildren. Predeceased by his parents; brothers, William Welden and Robert Hughes. Memorial service at 3 p.m. Sunday, Jan. 6, in Olson Funeral & Cremation Services Ltd., North Main Chapel, 2811 N. Main St., with memorial visitation from 2 to 2:45 p.m.; the Rev. Dean Parker will officiate. Memorials to Noah's Ark Animal Shelter, 111 N. First St., Rockford, IL 61107.
