RONALD LEE KERKHOFF, 65 GERMAN VALLEY - Ronald Lee Kerkhoff, 65, of German Valley died Friday, Jan. 11, 2013, in Clinton, Iowa. Ronald was born April 17, 1947, in Freeport, son of Fred and Eileen (Nampel) Kerkhoff. Ronald was a 1965 graduate of Forreston High School. Ronald served in the Vietnam War for the U.S. Army from 1966-1968. On Sept. 7, 1985, Ronald married Gale Miller in German Valley. Ronald was a self-employed carpenter; he also farmed in the German Valley area. He was a member of Silver Creek Reformed Church, where he was active in many church activities. He was a member of Ducks Unlimited. He enjoyed fishing and duck hunting. Mr. Kerkhoff is survived by wife, Gale; two sons, Ryan Kerkhoff of Freeport and Jake Kerkhoff of German Valley; father Fred Kerkhoff of Freeport; brother, Rodger (Jana) Kerkhoff of Freeport; father-in-law, Reggie (Doris) Miller of Freeport; sister-in-law, Nancy Miller of German Valley; nephews, Matt (Laura) Kerkhoff, William (Carol) Hermann and Garrett Miller; nieces, Kelli (Michael) Hall and Carolyn Barclay; two great-nephews, Jake Barclay and Blakeley Kerkhoff; great-niece, Allison Barclay; many aunts, uncles and cousins. Ronald was predeceased by mother, Eileen; mother-in-law, Dolores Miller; and many beloved friends and family members. Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Thursday, Jan. 17, at Burke Tubbs Funeral Home, Freeport. The Rev. Randy Knoll will officiate. Visitation will be from 3 to 7 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 16, also at Burke Tubbs in Freeport. Burial will be in Silver Creek Cemetery. A memorial has been established in Ronald's memory.
