stanley James 'jim' ARCHER, 77 MARENGO - "Jim" Archer, 77, of Marengo died Thursday, Aug. 25, 2011, at his home. Born June 8, 1934, in Harvey to Stanley A. Archer and Gertrude (Hackenbroch) Archer. On Dec. 2, 1961, he married Melodie L. Trost in Marengo. He graduated from Purdue University in 1957 and shared ownership of Marengo Steel Products, Inc., for many years. He enjoyed spending time with his family and friends, following all types of sports, dancing, swimming, gardening, and collecting antiques. Survived by his wife, Melodie; daughter, Beth Archer; stepchildren, Marleen Gibson and Wayne (Theresa) Zierer; step-granddaughter, Jasmine Gibson; and many nieces and nephews. Predeceased by an infant daughter; his parents; two sisters; and an infant brother. Service at 11 a.m. Monday, Aug. 29, at Zion Lutheran Church, 408 Jackson St., Marengo. Interment in Marengo City Cemetery. Visitation from 2 to 6 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 28, at the church, and from 10 a.m. Monday to time of service.
