THOMAS 'TOM' IRA EDWARDS, 75 ROCK CITY - Thomas "Tom" Ira Edwards, 75, died February 21, 2014, at St. Mary's Hospital Rochester, Minnesota. Tom was born January 20, 1939, in Rockford, Illinois, son of John and Helen Edwards. Tom graduated from Harlem High School, Loves Park, Illinois. He served in the United States Navy, aboard the U.S.S. Arcadia at Newport, Rhode Island. He married Bonnie (Kelso) on November 28, 1963. Tom farmed in the Rock City area and worked as a Sheet Metal Journeyman for over fifty years. He was a Knight of Columbus Fourth Degree Bishop P.J. Muldoon, General Assembly 190. Tom loved farming, fishing, woodcarving, apiary, music, canoeing, winemaking, gardening, bib overalls, telling stories, joking around and especially loved his Sugar dog. In the fall of 2013, Tom and Bonnie celebrated their 50th Wedding anniversary with a trip to Ireland. Surviving family members include his wife, Bonnie Edwards; daughter, Renee (Daniel) Knosby, Ames, Iowa; son, Thomas Sean Edwards, Davis, Illinois; grandchildren, Sean Edwards, Rock City, Illinois, Ryan Edwards, Woodstock, Illinois, Paul (Lauren) Knosby, Milwaukee, Wisconsin, Samantha Knosby, Des Moines, Iowa; great-grandson, Jameson Thomas Knosby, Milwaukee, Wisconsin; brother, Richard Edwards, W. Farmington, Ohio; and numerous nieces and nephews. Preceded in death by parents and brother, John (Jack) Edwards. Tom's eyes were donated to the Minnesota Lions Eye Bank. Cremation has taken place and services are private. There will be a family and friend celebration of Tom's life at a later date.
