Wayne Toepfer

wayne t. toepfer, 75 BYRON - Wayne T. Toepfer, 75, of Byron, died January 18, 2014, peacefully at his home that he loved so much. Born June 14, 1938, in Stockton, the son of Albert and Ruth Leuzinger Toepfer. Wayne married Jeannine Anne Hall of Freeport, on August 9, 1958, in Pearl City. Wayne served in the navy and was a member of Masonic Lodge 274 in Byron. Wayne was an ironworker for Local 498 in Rockford for many years before he retired in 1994. Wayne loved his job and fellow workers and many friends. He enjoyed going on trips with his family, working in his yard and football, especially the Minnesota Vikings. Survivors include his wife, Jeanne of Byron; daughter, Crystal (Ron) Ashelford of Byron; son, Wayne (Barbara) Toepfer of Fla.; three grandchildren, Kyle Lenz of Loves Park, Brandon Toepfer of Fla., granddaughter, Catherine (Mark) Ragland of Alexandria, Va.; brothers, Ronald (Jane) Toepfer of Apple River, Allen (Diane) Toepfer of Fla.; also nieces and nephews, and sister and brother-in-laws. He was preceded in death by his father, Albert; mother, Ruth; sister, Myrna; brothers, Robert and Edward; special nephew, Eric Toepfer of Freeport; and nieces, Lynn, Karen, and Sara of Stoughton, Wis. No memorial service will be held as Wayne donated his body to medical science to help find cures for others. The family he loved will have a private gathering at his home along the Rock River this summer. Wayne will always be with us and in our hearts.
