WILLIAM W. DONALDSON JR, 87 ROCKFORD - William W. Donaldson Jr., 87, of Rockford, passed away on Tuesday, June 25, 2013, in SwedishAmerican Hospital. Born Oct. 9, 1925, in La Salle County, Ill.; the son of William W. and Lottie (Jordan) Donaldson Sr. William served in the United States Navy from 1942-1946. He married Margaret U. "Peg" Larson Sept. 17, 1949, in Rockford; she predeceased him July 3, 2005. William was owner of Machinist Tool Co., and Imperial Trophy Co. Bill was very active in the Tebala Shrine, sang in the Shrine Chanters for decades and received his 50 year pin in 2012. Bill was a well-known soloist and sang at a wedding ceremony when he was 19 years old. He was a member of Zion Lutheran Church Choir and soloist at Zion, he sang for hundreds of weddings and funerals. Bill was a long time member of Svea Soner Chorus. He is survived by his devoted sons, Jeff of Rockford and Steve (Kajsa Elf) Donaldson of Taos, New Mexico; grandchildren, Anna Evelina and Jan Mattias; brother, Melvin Donaldson; and sister, Delores Dolan. Predeceased by his 3 brothers, Ernest, George, and Russell Donaldson. Graveside service will be at 12:30 p.m. Monday, July 22, 2013, in Scandinavian Cemetery, with Pastor Gerald Peterson officiating.
