Wilson Crigler

WILSON CRIGLER, 66 ROCKFORD - Wilson Crigler, 66, of Rockford departed this earthly life Wednesday, Oct. 3, 2012, in OSF Saint Anthony Medical Center, after a short illness. Born July 11, 1946, in Morehead, Miss., the son of Lewis and Ophelia Crigler. He lived in Rockford 46 years, coming from Morehead. Here he married the former Alberta Hughes on Dec. 28, 1967. Graduated from Gentry High School in Indianola, Miss. He was a member of Greater Calvary MBC where he served as deacon, usher, and Sunday school teacher. He was a member of the Rockford and Freeport Usher Council serving two terms, 1996 to 2000 as president. Wilson was a professional photographer. He loved to help people capture their wonderful memories. Wilson retired from Chrysler Corp., after 33 years of employment. Wilson leaves to cherish many loving memories, wife, Alberta; son, Herman (Deede) Crigler of Barstow, Calif.; daughter, Pamela (Barry) Garrison of Lakeville, Minn.; brothers, Arthur Crigler, William (Willie Bea) Crigler, Alex (Ann) Crigler, IC Crigler and Mosie (Sammie) Crigler; sisters, Lureina Robinson, Elmira (George) Hammonds, Mildred (Tom) Purifoy and Brenda (Avery) Denton; grandchildren, Andrew (Jaimie), Courtland, Joshua, Justina and Kiana; four great-granddaughters; special friends, William West, David Martin, Donald Johnson, Willie Caradine, Leonard Arrington and David Hicks; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Predeceased by his parents; brothers, Andrew and Lewis Jr.; and granddaughter, Ambreah Crigler. Service at 11 a.m. Friday, Oct. 12, at Providence Baptist Church, 2209 Clifton Ave., with visitation from 9 a.m. to time of service. Burial in Sunset Memorial Gardens. Arrangements completed by Carl E. Ponds Funeral Home, 2429 W. State St.
