AURORA L. ABDUL-KARIM, 100 ROCKFORD - Aurora L. Abdul- Karim, 100, of Rockford passed Sunday, May 15, 2011, at Cor Mariae Center. Born May 19, 1910, in Mexico, the daughter of Victor and Maria (Flores) Lozano. Graduated from Secretarial College. Aurora was a member of St. Bernadette Church, she volunteered for the Senior Citizen Center and Meals on Wheels. Aurora was a talented seamstress and needle crafter, who for many years generously and lovingly shared her skills with family and community. Survived by grandchildren, Sandra (Scott) Klein-dienst, Cindy (Daniel) Petersen and John (Linda) Kleindienst; son-in-law, Albert Kleindienst; nephew, Gerry Lozano; niece, Lydia Lozano; and family in Florida and Mexico. Predeceased by her parents; husband, Chaquib Abdul-Karim; daughter, Yolanda Kleindienst; sister, Elvira; and brothers, Francisco and Hector. Private family services at Sunset Funeral Home & Memorial Gardens. In lieu of flowers, memorials to St. Bernadette's or Cor Mariae Center. Tributes to the family at sunsetfhmemgardens.com.

I drove Mrs Karim for many years in CareAVan and really enjoyed knowing her. Her determination and zest for life were true inspirations. I learned alot from her.
