Jacolyn Brubaker Obituary

JACOLYN 'JACKIE' J. BRUBAKER, 76 LOVES PARK - Jacolyn "Jackie" J. Brubaker, 76, of Loves Park danced into the loving arms of her Savior, Jesus Christ on Sunday, Oct. 27, 2013. She was born June 20, 1937, in Rockford, daughter of Edward and Virginia (Fiske) Bertrand. Jackie graduated from Harlem High School, Class of 1956, and retired from the Harlem School District in 2007. She was a beloved member of Grace Lutheran Church. Jackie was the 25th liver transplant recipient at Mayo Clinic in December of 1985, and lived an abundant life for 28 more years. Her greatest blessings in life were the people who crossed her path, with her grandchildren being the ones she treasured most. She felt at home wherever she was because in her heart, her permanent home was with Jesus. Our mom exhausted every last ounce of her life caring for and loving others. She lived with "no regret" and left such an imprint on so many lives. She will be deeply missed. Survivors include her children, Cindy (Rick) Florence, Randy (Julia) Brubaker, Jodi (Jay) Semevolos, Steven (Laura) Brubaker and Betsy (Rob) Milton; treasured grandchildren, Jeffrey (Alex), Bethany, Kristen (Andrew), Jordan, Corinne, Alicia and Kaley; brother, Ron (Vicky) Bertrand; numerous nieces, nephews and many wonderful friends. Predeceased by parents. Memorial service at 12 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 2, at Grace Lutheran Church, 343 Grand Avenue, Loves Park, with visitation from 10:30 a.m. to service time. A memorial will be established in her name at the Liver Transplant House of Mayo Clinic and Grace Lutheran Church. Arrangements by Delehanty Funeral Home Ltd. Visit delehantyfh.com.

Jackie has been in my thoughts a lot the last couple of weeks. I felt as if she was the guiding angel for my sister as she waited for a new liver. Jan, my sister, passed away while at the University Hospital in Denver. That was three days before Jackie left us.
Carlyle and i were at Mayo to visit Jackie 28 years ago. What a trooper she was!
I share in your mourning.
