Dave was more than just one of the good guys. He was a great guy! He inspired and motivated people and he was always there to help anyone who needed it. I never heard him say anything bad about anyone. He always put forth maximum effort no matter what the challenge. Although I was surprised to hear that he was in a wheelchair, I was not surprised that he didn't let that get him down. That simply presented him with a new way of competing. My wife Lydia and I will surely miss him.

So sorry to hear of Capt. Clifford's death. I flew with him several times when he was a DC9 Captain out of ORD. I'll never forget playing Pictionary in the crew room in Little Rock. My condolences to your whole family.

My sympathy & compassion to Jean and family upon Dave's death. I knew Dave well and worked with him at The Presbyterian Church, Palatine, IL way back in the 1970s & 80s. He was an exuberant man! No more marathons nor "hard landings." Only "soft landings" now with his Heavenly Father.

Dave was always an inspiring leader whether it was in the cockpit, at an ALPA meeting, or in a competitive event, and his smile was infectious! Most of my fondest memories as an ORD based pilot involved Dave--he will be missed by everyone who had the pleasure of knowing him.

I am so sorry to hear of Dave's passing. I have many fond memories growing up across the street from him in Lake Summerset. He let us neighborhood kids play in his yard, the lake front with his rafts and other toys, and would entertain us on rainy days when we were bored. He never turned us away when we knocked on the door and always had a smile. He was so much fun and I am pretty sure kept us out of trouble. I looked up to him and all his competitions. I would look at his pictures in the basement for hours and he would tell us the story of each one. He was a wonderful man and will be missed terribly.

I am so very sorry to hear of Mr. Clifford's death. He was a great example to all the boys on the Palatine Track and Cross Country teams. It was an honor and priviledge to have been mentored by him. Even in youth, I considered him to be my friend.

So very sorry to learn of Dave's passing. I can clearly recall the conversations I had with Dave while attending Durand UMC. His enthusiasm for everything was infectious. My thoughts and prayers are with you all during this difficult time.
