ALBERT T. HOEKSTRA, 85 ROCKFORD - Albert T. Hoekstra, 85, of Rockford died Tuesday, Oct. 9, 2012. He was born Aug. 9, 1927, in Oak Park, son of Lloyd and Grace (Biehl) Hoekstra. Served in the U.S. Navy. United in marriage to Anne Gerritsma on Dec. 29, 1950, in Sioux Center, Iowa. He was formerly employed as a salesman for Howell Tractor and as the executive director of IWHA. Al retired from his position as a lobbyist for Browning Ferris. He enjoyed golf and was a talented musician. Survived by wife, Anne; children, Janna (Jack) Becherer of Rockford, Kathy (Rick) Omohundro of Fulton, Mo., John (Jody) Hoekstra of Bloomington, Al Hoekstra Jr., of Northfield, Minn., and Dan (Amy) Hoekstra of Plainfield; grandchildren, Kelly, Emily (Matt), Molly, Joel, Mitchell, Abby, Bret, Garrick, Bonnie and Anna Grace; siblings, Edith Vetten of Atlanta and Lloyd (Dorothy) Hoekstra of Wheaton. Predeceased by his parents and brother-in-law, William Vetten. Memorial service at noon Monday, Oct. 15, at Midway Village, 6799 Guilford Road, Rockford, with visitation from 10:30 a.m. to time of service; the Rev. John Hilbelink of Providence Orthodox Presbyterian Church will officiate. Interment service at 10 a.m. Tuesday, Oct. 16, in Chapel Hill Gardens West, 17 W 201 Roosevelt Road, Oakbrook Terrace.
