Annie Engstrom Obituary

ANNIE M. ENGSTROM, 96 BELVIDERE - Annie M. Engstrom, 96, of Belvidere died Sunday, June 12, 2011, in her home. Born Oct. 13, 1914, in LaSalle County, daughter of Jack and Alice (Saevaried) Engelsen. Married Ebert Engstrom on May 14, 1949, in Elgin. Annie worked her entire life. As a young girl, she was a nanny, housekeeper and later moved to Elgin to work in various factories, returning home each weekend to help care for her younger siblings. She had a keen eye for detail and worked as an electronics draftsperson for Sundstrand, retiring in 1978. Annie and her husband lived in California and Florida but always returned to Belvidere to be close to her family. She never said a bad thing about anyone and was very strong in her Christian faith. Survivors include a sister, Ruby Flemming of Belvidere; stepdaughter, Charmayne Tellez of Florida; and several nieces and nephews. Predeceased by her parents; husband; sister, Beth McCelland; and brothers Luther, John, Glenn, Ray, Robert and Everett Engelsen. Memorial service at 11 a.m. Saturday, June 18, at Buck-Wheeler-Hyland Funeral Home, 218 W. Hurlbut Ave., Belvidere, with visitation beginning at 10 a.m.; the Rev. Jackie Wills, pastor of Davis United Methodist Church, will officiate. Burial in Shattuck Grove Cemetery. Memorials may be given to the family.
