Arthur Albert Anderson, 86, passed away August 1, 2018, at Miller's Senior Living Nursing Home in Indianapolis, Indiana. The son of Edward Anderson and Susan Wargo Green, Arthur was born December 27, 1931, in Rockford, Illinois. Due to the loss of his mother at a very young age, Art spent his early years at the Rockford Children's Home, in foster care, and on the farm of Roy and Remell McDougal. Art's career was in the meat packing industry; his first job was as a butcher at McDougal's Slaughter House. He owned and operated Kirkland Meats and was a supervisor at South Chicago Packing Company. Art ended his career at Aurora Packing Company. In 1952, Art married Helen Robinson with whom he had three children, Linda, Larry Dean, and Thomas. His second marriage in 1966, was to Donna (Wagner) Newberry with whom he had two children, Kenneth and Julia and two stepchildren, Larry and Charles. Art was a lifelong Cubs fan and was delighted when they finally won the World Series. He was a friend to everyone he met. Art loved a good joke and always had one or two to share. He was so proud of his children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren, enjoying time at their sports events and celebrating their special accomplishments. Arthur is survived by sister, Eleanor Oakes of Winnebago; daughters, Linda (Jim) Welsh and Julia Anderson; sons, Thomas Arthur, Ken (Leigh) Anderson, and Larry (Angie) Newberry; grandchildren, Erik (Kerri) Welsh, Evan (Amber) Welsh, Parker Anderson, Katie (Brent) Newberry Benedict, Lawrence (Daina) Newberry III, Kaylee Anderson and Franklin Anderson; great-grandchildren, Dylan, Kieran, Susan, Owen and Lucy Welsh, and Logan Benedict. The family would like to thank the loving staff of Miller's Senior Living in Indianapolis for their care for Arthur.
