ARTHUR THOMAS MILES, 75 ROSCOE - Arthur Thomas Miles, 75, of Roscoe, died Tuesday, December 24, 2013 in Beloit Memorial Hospital. He was born March 29, 1938 in Spring Valley, IL, the son of Elmer William and Marie Catherine (Noel) Miles. Arthur was a 1957 graduate of Freeport High School and a graduate of Nebraska School of Engineering. He was a veteran of the U.S. Air Force and was honorably discharge with the rank of Staff Sargeant. Arthur married Bonnie L. Barlow on May 4, 1968 in First Congregational Church, Roscoe, IL. Arthur was formerly employed by Sunstrand, Ipsen, Carbide Cut-Off and started his own business Miles Design Service. After retirement he went to work for Createch Inc. until his illness. He was an avid sports fan who liked to play tennis, bowl and sports diving. Arthur also enjoyed swimming and was a former Freeport Pretzel football player. In later years, he enjoyed watching Westerns, sports on TV and playing with his grandkids and pet cat, Caesar. He served as the chairman for the Roscoe Police and Fire Commission and was also on the planning Commission for many years. Arthur was a life member of the Roscoe V.F.W and a member of the Roscoe Lions Club. He was also a trustee and deacon of the First Congregational Church for many years. Survivors include his wife, Bonnie Miles; son, Thomas (Lori) Miles; daughter, Heidi (Stacy) Mallicoat all of Roscoe, IL; grandchildren, Alexis, Keegan and Zac; his kitty, Caesar and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his parents. Funeral services will be 1 p.m. Saturday, December 28, in the Daley Murphy Wisch and Associates Funeral Home and Crematorium, 2355 Cranston Road, Beloit, WI, with the Reverend Dan Herman officiating. Burial will be in Roscoe Cemetery, Roscoe, IL. Visitation will be from 11:30 a.m. until the time of service Saturday in the funeral home.
