BERGET MARIE SMITH SHUEY, 91 ROCKFORD - Berget Marie Smith Shuey, 91, of Rockford, passed away March 26, 2013. Born in Trollhattan, Sweden on May 4, 1921, to Oscar and Ida (Kjorisberg) Smith. Berget arrived in the U.S. in August 1925, and has lived in Rockford since that time. She attended Rockford schools, graduating from the last class of Rockford Central High School in 1940. Married Daniel L. Shuey on May 24, 1941. She retired from Sundstrand Corporation's telecommunications department in 1985. Berget was a member of the U-U Church since 1955, Countryman Circle and the VSP group. She enjoyed knitting and spending summers at Torch Lake, Michigan, bird watching and listening to Bill Korst's Big Band Show. Survived by son, Daniel L. (Judy) Shuey Jr.; daughter, Georgan Jansen; step- grandson, Justin (Laurie) Jaeger; step-grandchildren, Jackson and Delaney; many dear nieces, nephews and friends. Predeceased by husband, Daniel L. Shuey Sr.; parents, Oscar and Ida Smith; brothers, Tore "Corky" Smith, and Ralph Smith; infant son, William Lincoln Shuey. Memorial service at 2 p.m. Saturday, March 30, at the Unitarian Universal Church, 4848 Turner Road, Rockford.
