CATHERINE MARY COOPER JONES ROSCOE - Catherine Mary Cooper Jones died on January 15, 2014. She was born on February 16, 1921, in Charleston, Illinois to Herman Lloyd Cooper and Bernice Corzine Cooper. The family moved to Oak Park, Illinois when Catherine "Kay" Cooper was a small girl. There she met Robert Tudor Jones, whom she married on March 29th, 1941, after attending Blackburn College. During their many years in Barrington, Kay enjoyed Garden Club and was an active member of the Daughters of the American Revolution. She loved travel, cats, birds and nature, but her true devotion was to her family. One example of her devotion is tracing her family history back to William the Conqueror. After retirement, Kay and Bob moved to Roscoe to be near their daughter, Sherry and her husband, Barry Viktora. While living in Roscoe, Kay enjoyed the Garden Club and adventures with Sherry. Catherine was a remarkably insightful, artistic, and strong-willed spirit. Although she had been in excellent health all her life, the death of Bob in April 2013, and pelvic injuries sustained in a fall in her home, lead to her decline and death. Kay's last months were spent in the loving care of Sherry and Barry. She died peacefully in their home on January 15. The family wishes to thank all of the devoted and loving staff of caregivers and hospice personnel. We particularly want to acknowledge our gratitude to Pam and Lowell, Renee, and Linda. Survivors: Virginia Jones, Jenny (Jon), Sherry (Barry) Viktora; grandchildren, Michelle (Scott) Henderson, Katrina (Kevin) Periman, Lisa (Christian) Puccetti, and Sara (Jukka) Valkonen; great- grandchildren, Taylor and Ryan Henderson, Travis and Kylie Periman, Isabella and Nicolas Puccetti, and Annika and Aleksi Valkonen. Preceded in death by her husband, Robert; brother, C. Robert Cooper; and sister-in-law, Mimi Cooper. Services will be held at a later date at Willow Creek Cumberland Presbyterian Church near Martinsville, Illinois. Honquest Family Funeral Home with Crematory, Roscoe Chapel, was honored to have assisted the family. To express condolences, visit honquestfh.com.
