Claire Perkins Obituary

CLAIRE A. PERKINS, 86 ROCKFORD - Claire A. Perkins, 86, of Rockford passed away Monday, May 2, 2011, in Wesley Willows. She was born March 12, 1925, in Wauwatosa, Wis., to Frank C. and Florence (Heisman) Bandelin. Married Robert J. Perkins on June 16, 1951, in Wauwatosa; he passed away Nov. 10, 1987. Claire was a member of Rockford Country Club, University Club, Alpha Chi Omega and Junior League. In her full life, she most enjoyed time with family and friends, especially Thursday nights with the "The Chicken Ladies," daily crosswords, playing bridge, golf, music, singing in the church choir, sewing and volunteering her time to numerous charities. She was a loving daughter, wife, mother and grandmother who lived her life with compassion, humility, integrity and a witty sense of humor. Survivors include daughters, Jane (Bill) Peterson of Roscoe and Sally J. Perkins of Gig Harbor, Wash.; grandchildren, Joshua C. (Amanda Bornhorst) Peterson, Sean L. (Teresa) Peterson and Robert Kai Perkins; great-grandchildren, Hayden, Lauren and Brianna Peterson; and a niece and several nephews. Predeceased by her parents. Memorial service at 1:30 p.m. Saturday, May 21, in Court Street United Methodist Church. The Rev. Keith Kelsey Powell will officiate.
