Connie Bermudez Obituary

CONNIE LUNGO BERMUDEZ, 66 LOVING AUNT, SISTER AND FRIEND ROCKFORD - Connie Lungo Bermudez, 66, of Rockford went to be with the Lord on Monday, May 9, 2011, surrounded by family, friends and her precious dogs, Max and Buddy. Born Aug. 5, 1944, in Rockford, the daughter of Mike and Flora Lungo. Connie lived most of her life in Rockford and lived a few years in San Francisco during the mid-'60s. She loved life and people and had a magnetic personality that attracted people from all walks of life. Connie never turned anyone away. She owned and operated the Victory Tap for 12 years. The business was like a second home, where people gathered in a "Cheers-type" atmosphere. Connie enjoyed sponsoring Christmas dinners for the seniors, homeless and the hungry. She had a heart larger than life and was a caregiver to anyone in need. Her nieces and nephews were an important part of her life and she always looked forward to family dinners with them. Connie attended Rockford Public Schools and received an associate's degree in business from Rock Valley College. She was blessed with many loving, and loyal friends. Survived by sisters, Mary Fay of French Camp, Calif., Katherine Yates of Rockford, who was always sweet to Connie, and Jennie James Parrott of Rockford; precious sister, Millie Gordon of Cowden, who was always like a mother to Connie; brother, Guy Diane Lungo of Rockford; several loving nieces, nephews and cousins; and many long-time friends. Predeceased by soul mate, David Hart; papa and mama, Mike and Flora Lungo; niece, Cheech Gordon; nephew, Craig; and her precious little dogs, Ashley, Courtney and Nikki. Connie was thankful for and appreciative of Dr. James Woodman for his kindness, caring, compassion, and support while helping her through her journey. She was especially appreciative of her nieces, Gail Harson, Heather Downey and Janet Kenny Williams, who so selflessly provided unconditional love, support and care for Connie throughout much of her journey on this earth. A special thanks also to friend, Eddie Bick, Help-at-Home assistant, Sara Coon, Hospice Care of America, and the many other friends and family members who assisted Connie along her journey. Celebration of Connie's life at 11 a.m. Monday, May 16, in Fitzgerald Funeral Home, 3910 N. Rockton Ave., Rockford, with visitation from 9 30 to 10 45 a.m.; Pastor Jeff Hart will officiate. Entombment in Sunset Memorial Gardens, Chapel of Love. Memorial donations in memory of Connie may be made to the family. Express condolences online at www.fitzgeraldfh.com.

I'm so sorry I didn't get to spend as much time with you as I wanted Aunt Connie. As painful as it is to know you're gone, it's exciting to know that one day I will see you again. Until that day, may you be at peace.
