DANIEL A. BARTHELMAN ROCKFORD - Daniel A. Barthelman passed away on Thursday, April 25, 2013, at OSF St. Anthony, surrounded by family and friends, following a brief illness. He was born on June 27, 1948, in Rockford, the son of Willard and Carol (Wescott) Barthelman. Dan graduated from Boylan Catholic High School, Class of 1966, and served honorably in the U.S. Navy aboard the USS Alfred Cunningham from 1968-1971. He was formerly married to Lucille Arbisi Barthelman in 1971, and remarried to Shelley Clark in 2002. Dan worked for 35 years as a Pipefitter at Ingersoll and Chrysler, was a member of UAW, and retired in 2009. Dan enjoyed spending time with friends, fishing on Lake Wisconsin, was a member of the Lombardi & Venetian Clubs, was a great handyman, avid gun collector and lifelong Chicago Bears fan. Dan is survived by a daughter, Danielle (Dave) Peterson; a son, Ryan Barthelman; his beloved dog, Chelsey; brother, Dave (Diana) Barthelman; and sisters, Sally (Jerry) Gouker and Sue (Byron) Tam; and many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his parents; and wife, Shelley. The family would like to thank the nurses of 300 East at St. Anthony for their excellent care in his final days. Mass will be held at 10 a.m., Thursday, May 2, at the Cathedral of St. Peter, 1243 N. Church St., Rockford, IL. Visitation will precede the service at 9 a.m. Burial following service in Calvary Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials can be made to the family.
