David Anderson Obituary

David A. Anderson, 81 ROCKFORD - David A. Anderson, 81, passed away peacefully Saturday, May 21, 2011, in Provena St. Anne Center. He was spending what he hoped would be a short time there before returning home to Independence Village. He was born Aug. 31, 1929, in Chicago and moved to Rockford as a child. He graduated from East High School. He married Carole Joan Fosberg on Aug. 18, 1951. He worked at Barber-Colman for most of his life, retiring in 1989. David loved to sing, and we are sure that he will find great joy singing in God's heavenly choir. He was a lifelong member of State Street Baptist, now Creekwood Baptist Church, and he sang in the choir most of his life. He was also a member of Svea Soner Chorus for 55 years. One of his best memories was singing "The Star Spangled Banner" with the Svea Soner Chorus on July 4, 1965, at Tivoli Gardens. David was also a member of the Golden K Kiwanis Club. He was an avid Green Bay Packers and Chicago Cubs fan. David loved living at Independence Village and was very involved in all the activities available there. He worked in the store, ran the bingo games on Mondays, played Wii bowling, cards, dominoes, pool and loved to go on the trips with friends. Survived by his loving children; daughter, Sheryl (Lenny) White; son, Dwight David Anderson; beloved grandson, Adam David White; and constant companion and the love of his later life, Margaret Roling. Predeceased by his beloved wife of 51 years, Carole; and parents, Carl Arthur and Elizabeth (Teaufer) Anderson. Service at 2 p.m. Wednesday, May 25, in Creekwood Baptist Church, with visitation from 1 p.m. to service time. Arrangements by Honquest Family Funeral Home with Crematory, Rockford Chapel, 4311 N, Mulford Road. Express condolences and share memories online at honquestfh.com.

I will never forget you dad. Dave was such a part of my life growing up, being a child of a Svea Soner member. I will never forget how he taught me "just enough to schmuz the Friday Night Fish Fry guests out of a buck by pouring them coffee just right". I had only been receiving a few quarters, so that was hitting a jack pot. He will be greatly missed.
