DAVID M. YOAKUM, 65 CHERRY VALLEY - David M. Yoakum, 65, of Cherry Valley passed away Friday, April 26, 2013, peacefully in his home, surrounded by his loving family. Born July 1, 1947, in Elroy, WI, the son of John and Vivian (Skinner) Yoakum. David is a Veteran of the Vietnam War serving in the Army from 1966 to 1968. He worked as an assembler at Chrysler and retired in 1998, and was a member of the UAW 1268. He married Ruth Franklin on February 5, 2013. David's passion was going to auctions and refinishing antiques. He was a true and devoted family man, never missing weddings, graduations, birthdays and other family events and he loved his grandchildren dearly. David was an enthusiastic Green Bay Packers fan. He enjoyed walking his dog, Charlie, at the dog park and walking at CherryVale Mall. David loved visiting Texas. David is lovingly survived by his wife, Ruth; sons, Jeremy (Nicole) and Joel (Shanna) Yoakum; grandchildren, Garrett, Ethan, Tabitha, Jillian, Allyson and Carter; brothers, Tommy (Terri) Yoakum and Danny Yoakum; sisters, Sherry (Dick) Wyman, Diane Higgins, Richarda (Dennis) Williams, Patty (Bob) Christian and Lisa (Bruce) Simmons; best friend and faithful companion, Charlie. Predeceased by his parents, and former wife, Lorna Parkhurst. Funeral service will be at 11:30 a.m. on Monday, April 29, at Fitzgerald Funeral Home & Crematory, Mulford Chapel, 1860 S. Mulford Rd.
