DON CARTER SR., 81 FULTON, Mo. - Don Carter Sr., 81, of Fulton passed away Saturday, July 23, 2011, at his daughter's home, with his family at his side. Born Feb. 27, 1930, in Roscoe, Ill., to James Thurman and Bonnie Opal Smith Carter. On Dec. 21, 1952 he married Eleanor Jeanette Huffman in Capron, Ill.; she died Feb. 26, 1975. He was a dairy and crop farmer for many years and then started his own taxi business in Fulton, which he operated for at least 20 years. Member of the National Dairy Association and National Farmers Organization. Survivors include sons, Terry A. Helga Carter of Fulton and Don Angie Carter Jr., of Holts Summit; daughters, Pam N. George Hughes of Randolph, Iowa, Karen S. Bob Higgins of Myrtle Beach, S.C., and Rita J. Kenneth Wells of Columbia; brothers, Tom Betty Carter of Caledonia, Ill., John Carter of Capron and Doyle Carter of Machesney Park, Ill.; sisters, Carolyn Taft of Capron and Bonnie Gordon Keast of Belvidere, Ill.; 17 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; and stepdaughters, Angie and Glenda Jenkins. Predeceased also by second wife, Margaret Jenkins Carter; daughter, Julie Carter Rugg; and son, Brian K. Carter. Memorial service at 7 p.m. Thursday, July 28, at Belvidere Funeral Home, Belvidere, with family and friends celebrating Don's life from 5 p.m. to time of service; Pastor Matt Ritchey of Grace Bible Church, Beloit, Wis., will officiate.
