Donald Baal Obituary
DONALD G. BAAL, 84 PECATONICA - Donald G. Baal, 84, of Pecatonica, passed away, Monday, March 25, 2013, at the Stephenson Nursing Center in Freeport, surrounded by his loving family. Donald was born September 5, 1928, in Seward, IL., the son of George and Annetta (Borgmann) Baal. Don married Velda Klenz, on February 14, 1954 in Ridott. Don farmed for 42 years around the German Valley and Pecatonica area. He also worked for Deans Food and Green Giant. He served for the U.S. Army from 1950-1952 during the Korean Conflict. Don enjoyed bowling, golfing, playing pool, and traveling to 49 states. He was a member of the American Legion Eugene Barloga 197, a lifetime member of the VFW Donald Lorraine Tarbest 8416, Teamster Retire 325 Rockford, and the Westfield Community Center. Survivors include his wife, Velda Baal of Pecatonica; two sons, Stephen (Bonita) Baal of Freeport and Charles (Brenda) Baal of Mt. Morris; three granddaughters, Michele, Kimberly and Emily Baal; grandson, Justin (Cassie) Baal; great-grandson, Kolbe Baal; great- granddaughter, Maddison Baal; sisters, Dorothy Stewart of Freeport and Marilyn Peck of German Valley; brother, George (Erma) Baal of German Valley; sister-in-law, Pat Baal. Also surviving are numerous nieces and nephews. Donald was preceded in death by his parents and brother, Dale. Funeral services will be 10 a.m. Friday, March 29, at Burke Tubbs Funeral Home. Pastor John Hollis will officiate. Visitation will be Thursday from 4 to 7 p.m. at Burke Tubbs in Freeport. There will also be a visitation from 9 a.m. until the time of service Friday.
