DOROTHY M. MCCAW, 87 ROCKFORD - Dorothy M. McCaw, 87, of Rockford died at 9:10 a.m. Saturday, Dec. 8, 2012, at Park Strathmoor Nursing Home. Born Dec. 23, 1924, in Dixon, daughter of Franklin and Henrietta (Bush) McCray. Rockford resident since 1993, coming here from Janesville, Wis. Married Lewis W. McCaw on Aug. 26, 1946, in Rockford; he died in August 1977. Employed by the F.W. Woolworth Company in Janesville more than 20 years, retiring in 1991. She was a member of their Retirees Club. While in Rockford, she was a "Demo Lady" for Sam's Club for 10 years, which she enjoyed. She loved animals and also enjoyed pet sitting for people. Member of the First Church of the Nazarene. Dorothy was a hard worker; she had to leave school to go to work to help support her family and also help out on the family farm. She was very kind hearted with a solid moral foundation and strong faith. Dorothy was quite well-read with a great interest in politics and a good sense of humor. Her passion was always her family who she loved with all her heart. Survivors include sons, James L. (Ruth) McCaw of Rockford, Jerry W. (Sandy) McCaw of El Mirage, Ariz., and Kurt (Cindy) McCaw of Glendale, Ariz.; grandchildren, Brad, Dawn and Brett McCaw, Mandy Pleis, Adam McGrady; great-grandchildren, Brianna and Nicole Kopa, Jaykob Stickels and Gianna McCaw, as well as another great-grandson and great-great-grandson expected in the near future; and numerous loving nieces, nephews and cousins. Also predeceased by parents; a daughter at birth, Diane Elaine; daughter-in-law, Diane McCaw; and brothers, Earl and Harold McCray. Funeral service at 11 a.m. Friday, Dec. 14, at First Church of The Nazarene, 4503 Charles St., with Pastor Jake Crowley officiating. Private family burial. Visitation from 9:30 a.m. until service time at the church. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to First Church of The Nazarene.
