Eldred Stalker Obituary

ELDRED 'BUD' STALKER, 84 MODESTO, Calif. - Eldred "Bud" Stalker, 84, of Modesto passed away Thursday, May 5, 2011, in Pacifica Senior Living Facility. Born in Rockford, Ill., he graduated from East High school in 1944. He was drafted soon after graduation. On his first furlough, he married his high school sweetheart in 1945. Upon his discharge from the Army, he worked for the postal system for 37 years, retiring in 1982. Moving to Turlock in 1998, then to Modesto in 2001, due to suffering from Alzheimer's and needing to be closer to his family. He was an avid Chicago Cubs and Bears fan, enjoying many happy days at Wrigley field with friends. He also loved fishing with his dad and later with his son, Dale (Teresa) Stalker, who is now deceased. He was a devout Christian and is finally at rest with his Lord in heaven. He is survived by his wife of 65 years, Eunice (Tidemann) of Modesto; son, Robert (Becky) Stalker of Baldwin, N.Y.; daughter, Sharon (Mike) Rosenke of Modesto; grandchildren, Chris (Charmen) Rosenke of Modesto, Steve (Dawn) Stalker of Albuquerque, N.M., Katie (Brad) Cochran of Modesto, Gina Stalker of Pekin, Ill., and twins, Jeff and Jason Stalker of Baldwin; nine great-grandchildren; and one great- great-grandchild. We would also like to express our appreciation to all of the caregivers that have helped Bud through his many years of suffering with Alzheimer's, first at Millers Place of Modesto, then at Pacifica. Their love and care expressed has meant so much to our family. His family and friends will dedicate his life with a graveside service at Santa Nella National Cemetery, Santa Nella. In lieu of flowers, remembrances may be made in his honor to Community Hospice, 4368 Spyres Way, Modesto, CA 95350.
