ELEANORE L. STOLAR, 97 ROCKFORD - Eleanore L. Stolar, 97, of Rockford, passed away on Friday, May 9, 2014, surrounded by family. Born Sept. 14, 1916, in Chicago, Ill.; the daughter of Julius and Anna (Anderson) Colby. She was a graduate of Lindbloom High School in Chicago. Eleanore was employed with Illinois Central Railroad for many years where she worked as a comptometer operator. She moved from Chicago to Rockford in 1990. Eleanore married Joseph Stolar in Baltimore, Md.; he predeceased her Dec. 5, 1997. She was a former member of Ashburn Lutheran Church in Chicago. Eleanore enjoyed shopping and interior decorating; she was a wonderful cook, had a keen interest in current events and politics, and was a wonderful ballroom dancer; which is where she met her husband in Chicago at Trianon Ballroom. Eleanore loved her family, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren, and enjoyed traveling to Indiana where she spent summers at the lake house. She is survived by her daughter, Susan Polivka; grandson, Todd (Michelle) Polivka; granddaughter, Lauren Polivka; great-granddaughter, Alexandra Polivka; great-grandson, Nicholas Polivka; and several nieces and nephews. Predeceased by her parents; brother, Robert Colby; grandson, Bradley Polivka; sisters, Dorothy Carlson and Florence Gundlach; and son-in-law, Bob Polivka.
