GARY ARBISI, 64 ROCKFORD - Gary Arbisi, 64, of Rockford passed away Tuesday, April 30, 2013, in Alden Debes, from a long illness. Gary was born July 21, 1948, in Rockford; the son of Anthony and Nancy (Raia) Arbisi. He graduated from Boylan High School, Class of 1966. Gary also served in the Army. He married Kathleen Dooley in Rockford on February 8, 1992. Gary started work for the City of Rockford Water Department, Winnebago County Sheriff's Department reaching the rank of Major then Deputy Chief, he retired after 33 years. Member of St. Anthony Church, the Lions Club and Knights of Columbus. Gary was an avid golfer, he was also a trumpet player in the Phantom Regiment Drum and Bugle Corp. Survivors include his wife, Kathleen; three children, Roger (Teresa) Arbisi of Arizona, Anthony (Michelle) Arbisi of Rockford and Kate (Brian) Burke of Colorado; three sisters, Barbara Noto of Rockford, Shirley Tassoni of Rockford and Nancy (Michael) Gioppo of Rockford; two sisters-in-law, MaryAnn (Robert) Severson of Texas and Vicki (Gary) Miles of Machesney Park; brother-in-law, David (Tara) Dooley of Arizona; 13 grandchildren, Roman, Roger, Rose, Gianna, Gabriella, Giacomo, Angelina, Anthony, Ana, Teresa Arbisi, all of Arizona, Giorgi, Raia Arbisi of Rockford and Gunner Burke of Colorado; numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins. Predeceased by his parents and brothers-in-law, Tony Noto and Jerry Tassoni. Special thanks to Dr. Craig Rogers, Churchview Davita, Paratransit, Alden Debes and Family Hospice. Memorial Mass at 10 a.m. Monday, May 6, in St. Anthony Church, with the Franciscan Friars officiating. Memorial visitation from 2 to 5 p.m. Sunday, May 5, in Fitzgerald Funeral Home, 1860 South Mulford Road, and from 9:30 a.m. Monday until service time in the church.
