GERALD LEE AHLQUIST, 69 ROCKFORD - Gerald Lee Ahlquist, 69, of Rockford passed away Tuesday, Sept. 28, 2010, in Rockford Memorial Hospital, after a lengthy illness. Born Jan. 31, 1941, in Rockford, the son of John O. Ahlquist and Lorraine Henschel. He worked as a machinist at Nafco and Seward Screw Products. He was a NASCAR and Chicago Bears fan, drove race cars, enjoyed family poker games, playing the lottery, fishing, and especially being with his family. Gerald married Carol S. Wilken on Oct. 22, 1960, in Rockford. Survivors include wife, Carol; daughters, Tami Johnson, Traci (Rich) Bohn and Teresa (Ed) Papineau, all of Machesney Park; grandchildren, Jason, Cory, Lindsey, Tiffany, Kirsten, Zack, Kelsey and Jessica; great-grandchildren, Jaylin, Tanner, Cole and Chase; brothers, Thomas (Lana) and Jack (Grace) Ahlquist; and special companion and best friend, Maggie. Predeceased by parents; grandparents; and son-in-law, Rick Dimond. Service at 10 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 2, in Sunset Funeral Home, 8800 N. Alpine Road, Machesney Park, IL 61115.
