Gerda Baker Obituary

gerda h. baker, 85 ORANGEVALE, Calif. - Gerda H. Baker, 85, born Nov. 3, 1925, in Chicago, passed away March 4, 2011, in Orangevale and is now with her Lord Jesus Christ. She became the loving wife of Clarence Roy Baker on July 5, 1947, and resided most of her life in Rockford and Loves Park, Ill. She was the wonderful mother of four children, Laura (Howard) Levin, Jeanne (James) Foley, Carolyn (Stephen) Branch and Donald (Mary) Baker, and had 16 grandchildren. She was predeceased by her husband; parents, Alfred and Angeline Glazer; and sister, Mildred Courtenay. Gerda attended Riverside Community Church and enjoyed meeting with family and friends at Bible studies. She was involved with Mothers of Twins Club, TOPS, volunteering at St. Anne's Home and worked with ceramics. She was an employee of Deka Records, Weise's, St. Anthony Medical Records and Bergner's Distribution Center. She loved traveling and spending time with family. She enjoyed watching old classic movies, "Laura" being one of her favorites. Nothing pleased her more than watching her grandchildren in their various activities. Gerda thought only positive things of others and would drop everything for any visitor. She will be greatly missed by all her family and friends. Memorial service at 2 p.m. Friday, June 10, at Hope Evangelical Free Church in Roscoe, Ill.

Hello, Please accept our sympathy. My parents Dennis (deceased) and Irene Turkiewicz of St Francis, WI are cousins to Gerda. The last visit that my mother recalls is before she moved to CA and was still in Loves Park, IL. My mother Irene was saddened and yet commented that Gerda is visiting with Dennis again in heaven. We will keep Gerda and family in our prayers. Sincerely, Teresa Jones, youngest daughter of Dennis and Irene.

We were in Rockford Mothers of Twins Club together years ago. We used to have some wonderful telephone conversations with lots of laughter. She will be missed by all who knew her.
My sympathy to her family.

I knew Greda thought Homemakers Extension and anytime I saw her she always met me with her warm smile and a friendly greeting. It was an extreme pleasure to know her. She will rest in God's love.
