Gerda Mork Obituary

Gerda 'Gerri' Mork, 91 ROCKFORD - Gerda "Gerri" Mork, 91, of Rockford died at 4:30 a.m. Sunday, May 22, 2011, in Fairhaven Christian Retirement. Born July 31, 1919, in Belvidere, the daughter of Rudolph and Minnie (Larson) Swanson. She married Gilbert E. Mork on Nov. 12, 1938, in Des Moines, Iowa; he died November 1999. Gerda attended Belvidere schools and worked various places as a cook. She is survived by daughters, Janice (Bruce) Erickson, Lynette (Gary) Erickson, both of Rockford, and Cynthia Davis of San Antonio, Texas; sons, James (Coleen) Mork of Rockford and Richard (Holly) Mork of Roscoe; 19 grandchildren; 40 great-grandchildren; sister, Elvera (Julian) Kullberg of Rockford; brother, Robert (Sue) Swanson of Belvidere; and sister-in-law, Judith (Lennert) Holmertz of Rockford; and numerous nieces and nephews. Predeceased by her sisters, Edna (William) Durley of Belvidere and Norma (Robert) Grothman of Rockford. The family would like to give a special thank-you to the staff at Fairhaven Nursing Home and Northern Illinois Hospice for the wonderful care and love they took with Gerda. Memorial service at 11 a.m. Thursday, May 26, in First Evangelical Free Church, 2223 N. Mulford Road, with a memorial visitation from 10 to 10:45 a.m. Her grandson, the Rev. Brian Erickson, will officiate. Private burial in Arlington Memorial Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made out to Missions at First Evangelical Free Church or Fairhaven Christian Retirement. Arrangements made by Olson Funeral & Cremation Services Ltd., Fred C.
