HAROLD LEE 'WYATT' CHAMPLIN, 72 ROCKFORD - Harold Lee "Wyatt" Champlin, age 72, of Rockford, was granted his angel wings on November 25, 2013 after a brief illness, surrounded by his soul mate and her family. Born on February 11, 1941 in South Beloit to Grant and Alexene Champlin (Buswell). Graduated in 1959 as a "SO BO" from South Beloit High School. Harold worked at Dixon State Hospital, Sundstrand and retired from Chrysler after 30 years of service. He served his country in the US Army as a medic in the 82nd Airborne. An avid Chicago Bulls and Bears fan for life, he loved his music loud and attended many concerts. An outdoors man, Harold enjoyed fishing, picnicking at White Pines State Park, planting spring flowers, dancing, cooking, gambling, bird watching and his travels to Ireland; but most of all, He loved his family and friends. He is survived by his soul mate of 13 years, Virginia Linder, and her family; brother, Kenny (Margaret) Champlin; as well as numerous nieces and nephews. He is predeceased by his parents; brothers, Bud and Lyle; and sisters, Betty and Caroline. A Memorial visitation will be held from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m., Saturday, November 30, at the Christenson Funeral Home and Crematory, 925 3rd Ave., Rockford. Cremation Services Private.
