Harold Nash Obituary

HAROLD EARL NASH JR. "Oh that I had wings like a dove for then would I fly away and be at rest" Psalms 55:6 ROCKFORD - Christianity does not exempt one from death; it only ensures triumph over death. There is no other entrance into our heavenly Father's house. A Christian's life came to an end, Sunday, May 22, 2011, at Kindred Hospital in Sycamore, when Brother Harold Earl Nash Jr. was called to his Father's house. Brother Harold Earl Nash Jr. was born June 30, 1945, the son of Harold Nash Sr. and Dorothy Kenerson in Chicago. Brother Nash accepted Christ as his personal savior at an early age and was baptized. He grew up in Chicago and attended elementary and high school, graduating with honors. He attended Roosevelt University, majoring in political science. Being an avid reader, Brother Nash became involved in politics and served as a proponent for civic and social issues. Later in life he met the Bennetts and traveled north to Rockford. He became a member of Macedonia Baptist Church and served faithfully until he was overcome with ill health. Brother Nash served in many capacities at the church and was well known in the community for his faithfulness. He was dependable and trustworthy, and possessed a wealth of knowledge of the Bible. Always optimistic and seeking to serve others in a Christian way, he devoted his life to God, his family, church and friends. In addition, he developed equally strong relationships with each new generation. Brother Nash worked as a packer at the United Parcel Service for a number of years. Brother Nash was also a member of the Black Health Care Initiative Coalition, served with the health unit ministry at church, Rockford Vicinity Baptist and District Association and Baptist Gen. State convention of Illinois. Later in life found pleasure in researching various topics on the computer, crossword puzzles and being an electronics hobbyist. Overall, Brother Nash loved life, never met a stranger, and was a friend to all mankind. He always had a warm smile and greeted others in love. He leaves to mourn his passing, his sister, Yvonne Wagner of Corona, Calif.; nephew, Marcus Nash (Alisa) of Chicago; and relatives, friends, and his church family. Brother Harold Nash Jr. is preceded in death by his parents; sister, Lorraine Nash; and numerous aunts and uncles. Service at 1 p.m. Tuesday, May 31, at Macedonia Baptist Church, 1720 Perry Bennett Way (Morgan Street), Rockford, with visitation from 11 a.m. to time of service; Pastor Perry Bennett will officiate. My heart has been broken today, as I only just found out this afternoon of Harold's passing.I worked for Harold as his night time personal assistant for about a year and a half. I know he is with the Lord and is no longer feeling or suffering from any pain. And that will keep me comforted, my heart will mend, and in doing so it will wrap a small piece of him in there as well as the memories that I have. I thank God for given me the oppurtunity to meet and care for Harold. He was a very special man. I will miss him terribly.
