HATTIE LUCILLE WOODARD ROCKFORD - Hattie Lucille Woodard, of Rockford departed this earthly life Saturday, March 23, 2013, at River Bluff Nursing Home. She was born April 21, 1932, in Pinola, Mississippi; the daughter of Lula Mae Sanifer and Willie Black. Hattie married E.L. Woodard in 1951, moving to Rockford in 1954, of this union six children were born. She was employed 25 years by Singer Zone Mental Health Center. Hattie was a member of Mt. Sinai Baptist Church, serving on the Mothers Board and with the kitchen committee. She was a member of Jefferson Horton American Legion post #340, ASFME and a Den Mother of a Boy Scout Troop. Hattie was a foster parent for many years. She graduated from New Hymn High School later to attend Rockford School of Practical Nursing until 1970 when she received her Nursing Certificate. Hattie leaves to cherish many loving memories, two daughters, Donna (Miller Clyde) Webster and Michelle Woodard; five sons, Terry, Frederick (Annette), Jeffery (Dionne), Brian and Hakeem Woodard; 15 grandchildren; 7 great-grandchildren; sister, Ruby Nell (Tim) Durr-Griffith; brothers, Willie Black Jr. and Joe Durr; a host of nieces, nephews other relatives and friends. She was predeceased by her parents; sisters, Alma Ruth Walker, Hazel Burkett and Shirley Prunty; brothers, Harvey, Howard, and George Larry Durr. Service at 11 a.m. Saturday, March 30, at Mt. Sinai Baptist Church, 1901 W. State St. Burial in Sunset Memorial Gardens. Visitation will be held from 10 a.m. until the time of service. Arrangements completed by Carl E. Ponds Funeral Home 2429 W.
