He was born Nov. 27, 1922, in Rockford, the fifth son of Charles and Eva (Kuntzelman) Stenger. He married L. Verrell Moring on Feb. 8, 1947, and devoted 65 loving years with her until her death Feb. 18, 2012. A devoted father, Herb was always active in all the children's activities. He loved to hunt, fish, camp and participate in any outdoor activities. He was a master craftsman. No task could not be conquered. Herb was a charter member of Kepota Sportman Club and a partner in Thunder Rock Trap and Skeet in Rockton, as well as a lifetime member of the Moose Club. They also enjoyed day trips and the theatre. They were actively involved with several senior groups, including Golden Agers and AMCORE Bank. Special thanks to the staff at Wesley Willows who gave so much support to both Herb and Verrell during their stay there and the staff of VNA Hospice, especially Julie.
