HILLIARD ROBERT 'BOB' GREEN ROCKFORD - Hilliard Robert "Bob" Green of Rockford, departed this earthly life on March 18, 2013 after a long illness. He was born in Gould, Ark. to Nathaniel and Georgia Green on June 18, 1940. He attended and graduated from Gould High School in Ark. He received the nickname 'Float' from early childhood by close family and is also known by his friends as "Bob". He moved to Rockford in 1958 and worked at Rockford Clutch, and for many years as a truck driver which took him all over the United States. He also worked in security while living in Calif. He married Ollie Mae Jones in 1967. He helped raise a son, and together they had three daughters. Despite the circumstances with his illness, he always maintained a positive outlook and a genuine smile. He would often greet you with a high five or thumbs up. Bob leaves to cherish his memories, daughters, Janell Francine Green of Los Angeles, Calif., Jacinta Sams of Loves Park, Justine Johnson of Normal, and other special daughter Jenia Tennin of Rockford; special brother and caregiver, Edward 'Eddie' Ray (Minister Linda) Green of Rockford; sisters, Georgia Lee Green of Pine Bluff, Ark., and Lenora White of Los Angeles, Calif; sister-in-law, Elizabeth Green of Rockford. grandchildren, Jeseana, Khadejah, Kyara, Ayana, Jada, Justin, Jordan, and other special grands Joy, and Jaden; Known as Uncle Float by more than 40 nieces and nephews in Ark., Calif., and Colo., and a host of other relatives and friends. Special friends, Ruby Dee Harris, Frances Malone, Bob Curry, Johnny Moore, and Tommy Bandy. Predeceased by parents; son, John 'Gerald' Green-Price; son-in-law, Eric Sams; brothers, Nathanial, Ernest, Earl, Curtis, Leo, and Willie Green; sisters, Ruthie Mae Younger and Viola Green. Special thanks to the staff at Park Strathmoore and the Transitions Hospice staff (Tom, Eduardo, Kim) for their extraordinary care. Service at 11 a.m., Thursday, March 21, at Collins and Stone Funeral Home, 128 S. Fifth Street, with visitation from 9 a.m. to service time. Pastor Elijah G. Cooper, will officiate. Arrangements completed by Collins and Stone Funeral Home.
