JOHN EDWIN BURKE, 57 ROCKFORD - John Edwin Burke, 57, passed away May 7, 2013, from injuries sustained in a motorcycle accident. John loved to ride his motorcycle and was an active member of the C.N.S. Motorcycle Group in Texas, Harley Owners Group, and a valued member of the Thousand Trails R.V. community. John graduated from Parker High School in Janesville, WI in 1974 and retired from the Chrysler Belvidere Assembly Plant in 2009 after 30 years. John is survived by his two children, of whom he was very proud, Justin Burke and Felicia (Isaiah) Fisher; the love of his life, and mother of his children, Sheila (Hartsock) Burke; father, Robert A. Burke; three brothers, James, Michael and Robert (Darcy) Burke; seven sisters, Carrie (Gary) Glover, Trici (Tom) Schraeder, Eilene (Jim) Schroeckenthaler, Holly Jo Ann Metzger, Adair (Dick) Moccero, Kathleen (Robert) Hunt and Susan (Tim) Custer; several nieces and nephews. Preceded in death by his mother, Myrtle E. (O'Kelly) Burke and brother-in-law, Dennis Metzger. John was a quick-witted remarkable man, loving father and loyal friend. He will be missed by all. Funeral service will be at 1 p.m. with a visitation from 11 a.m. until service time on Thursday, May 16, in Honquest Family Funeral Home with Crematory, 4311 N. Mulford Road, Rockford.
