John Perry Obituary

John H. Perry, 87 PRAIRIE DU CHIEN, Wis. -John H. Perry, 87, of Prairie du Chien and formerly of Rockford, Ill., passed away peacefully watching his beloved Cubs on Friday, May 13, 2011, at home. Born June 22, 1923, in Rockford, the son of Everett and Ella (Fisher) Perry. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II. He married Phyllis Johnston on July 7, 1946; she died June 21, 1983. He later married Mary Elliott Sherman on May 5, 1984. He farmed in the Hillpoint, Wis., area and later worked at Barber-Colman and Woodward Governor, both in Rockford. He then worked at Pacific Bearing in Roscoe, Ill., until his retirement. He was a member of the Rockford American Legion, LLL Society, Roscoe VFW and Eagles Club. John was a die-hard Cubs fan since 1929. He is survived by wife, Mary of Prairie du Chien; daughter, Patricia Miller of Lancaster, Wis.; sons, Richard (Christine) Perry of Mount Hope, Wis., and Thomas Perry of Palm Springs, Calif.; stepson, Christopher (Katherine) Sherman of Westchester, Pa.; half brother, Harold Noble of Roscoe; grandchildren, Tracy, Darcy, Aaron and Andrew; great-grandchildren, Mitchell, Kaitlyn, Nathaniel, Shaena, Brennan, Cooper, Reece and Tucker. Predeceased also by parents; stepdaughter, Deborah Sherman; and sister, Elizabeth. Service at 1 p.m. Wednesday, May 18, in Julian Poorman Welte Funeral Home, Rockford, with visitation from 11 a.m. to service time. Burial in Willwood Cemetery, Rockford. I am sorry to hear about John. I sure loved talking with the two of you. We had lots of fun bowling @ the Moose too.
