Kenneth Anderson Obituary

Kenneth A. Anderson, 92 ROCKFORD - Kenneth A. Anderson, 92, of Rockford went home to be with the Lord at 8:30 a.m. Friday, June 10, 2011, in Fairhaven Christian Retirement Center. Born Feb. 24, 1919, in Minneapolis, Minn., the son of Axel T. and Agnes S. (Carlson) Anderson. He received his bachelor's degree from the University of Minnesota in civil engineering and had a successful career of 40 years with Standard Oil Co. of Indiana. He married Mildred A. Bergman on Oct. 10, 1942, in Enderlin, N.D. She died in March 1996. Ken was a member of Elim Evangelical Free Church in Oak Lawn, where he led the choir for 45 years and served in various roles of church leadership. Upon moving to Rockford in 1993, he became a member of First Evangelical Free Church, participating in the fellowship male chorus, mission commission and teaching a men's Bible study. Ken served on the Great Lakes District Board of the Evangelical Free Church. He served with Gideons International for more than 40 years. Ken is survived by his children, Karen Anderson of Rockford, Deborah (Mark) Caulk of Stafford, Va., and Gerald (Linda) Anderson of Colorado Springs, Colo.; six grandchildren; one great-grandson; brother, John Anderson of Minneapolis; and a number of nieces and nephews. Also predeceased by his sister, Eleanor Hanson; and brother, Burton Anderson. Memorial service at 11 a.m. Tuesday, June 14, in First Evangelical Free Church, 2223 N. Mulford Road, with Mark Caulk and the Rev. Chuck Rife officiating. Private burial in Arlington Memorial Park. Memorials may be given to Gideons International, 6585 Lexus Drive, Rockford, IL 61108; or Fairhaven Christian Retirement Center.
