LELAH ALICE SWENSON, 91 ROCKFORD - Lelah Alice Swenson, 91, of Rockford, passed away at 4 a.m. Monday, May 12, 2014, in Presence Cor Mariae. Born July 27, 1922, in Centerville, Iowa, the daughter of Harry and Laura (Probasco) Stromdahl. Graduated from Rockford High School and attended Rockford College where she received her World War II Teaching Certificate. She taught at Morris Kennedy School for several years. She married Darwin Swenson Jan. 6, 1942, in Rockford. He predeceased her June 7, 2006. Member of Trinity Lutheran Church and St. Anthony Auxiliary. Lelah derived great enjoyment from time spent with family at her summer home on Pleasant Lake, Wis. In addition, she enjoyed volunteering for several years in the St. Anthony gift shop. In her later years, she enjoyed her "grand-pets" very much. She is survived by her daughter, Connie (David Kiefer) Swenson of Rockford; and nieces and nephews, Carole (Les) Fernstaedt, Ron Anderson (Joe Neumaier), Wayne Hutchinson, Scott Stromdahl, Joan (John) Noonan, and Nancy (Chuck) Quinzo. Predeceased by her brother, Robert Stromdahl; sisters, Jeanne Anderson and Betty Hutchinson; and niece, Jane Lee. The family wishes to thank the extraordinary care provided by Presence Cor Mariae and Hospice Centers of America. Funeral service will be at 11 a.m. Friday, May 16, 2014, in Trinity Lutheran Church, 200 N. First St., with Rev. Jay Quinn and Rev. Megan Vaughan officiating. Burial in Arlington Memorial Park.
