Leonard Segneri Obituary

LEONARD JOSEPH SEGNERI, 84 ROCKFORD - Leonard Joseph Segneri, 84, of Rockford passed away Tuesday, May 3, 2011, at OSF Saint Anthony Medical Center. He was born June 13, 1926, in Rockford, the son of Sisto and Angelina (Valenti) Segneri. Leonard was a member of St. Anthony of Padua Catholic Church; 3rd degree member of Knights of Columbus Muldoon Council 470 and a 4th degree member of the General Assembly 190. He enjoyed his winter months in Florida with Mary, family and friends. He also enjoyed horse racing. Leonard owned and operated LJ Distributers for many years. Leonard married Mary Castellese on Feb. 17, 1946, in Rockford. Survivors include his wife, Mary; daughters, Luann (Steven) Stiles, Kimberly (Robert) Turner and Rojean (Dean Jr.) Olmstead; grandchildren, Luann (Scott) Pelczynski, Steffanie (Jeff Lee) Stiles, Nacole Turner, Krishana Turner, Kiaana Turner, Dean Olmstead III, Dr. Nicole (Dr. Jayen) Patel and Todd (Hannah) Olmstead; great-grandchildren, Nicholas Pelczynski and Luca Jayen Patel. Predeceased by brothers, Joe, Emil and James; and sisters, Antoinette and Dolores. Funeral Mass at noon Saturday, May 7, at St. Anthony of Padua Catholic Church, 1010 Ferguson St., Rockford; with visitation from 10 to 11:45 a.m.; the Rev. Monsignor Thomas C. Brady and the Rev. Richard M. Russo concelebrating. Fitzgerald Funeral Home & Crematory, Mulford Chapel, 1860 S. Mulford Road, Rockford, assisted the family. Dear Mary, LuAnn, Kim,and Rojean...so sorry to hear of Leonard's passing. I lost my mom a year ago in February and it's never easy. I remember spending a lot of good times at your house growing up. It seems like a lifetime ago! Leonard was always so nice and funny. Keep all your precious memories close to your heart and know that he is in a far better place.
