Lorraine Johnson Obituary

Lorraine J. Johnson, 86 ROCKFORD - Lorraine J. Johnson, 86, of Rockford died at 5:08 a.m. Saturday, June 11, 2011, surrounded by her loving family. Born June 24, 1924, in Rockford, the daughter of Carl and Rose (Gustafson) Simons. She was a lifelong Rockford resident. Lorraine married Roy L. Johnson on May 13, 1944. She was employed for many years at the Winnebago Center for the Blind as a volunteer coordinator. Lorraine was a member of Salem Lutheran Church, where she was a Stephens minister. She will be dearly missed by her daughter, Jody (Tom) Dufault of Rockford; daughter-in-law, Linda (Gary) Gullickson of Bozeman, Mont.; grandchildren, Cory (Ali), Jared (Nicole), Nate (Jessica), Kira (Nick), Derf and Hannah; great-grandchildren, Eli, Josiah, Maggie and Colin; and special nieces and nephews. Predeceased by her husband, Roy; and son, Steven. The family would like to thank the seventh floor nurses at SwedishAmerican Hospital and Northern Illinois Hospice. Service at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, June 15, in Salem Lutheran Church, 1629 S. Sixth St., with visitation from 9:30 to 10:15 a.m. The Rev. William T. Dahlberg will officiate. Burial in Scandinavian Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family prefers memorials to Salem Lutheran Church. Arrangements made by Olson Funeral & Cremation Services Ltd., Fred C. Lorraine was the very best neighbor and friend we could have asked for. We have so many fond memories of her through the years. She was such a strong and positive person, and always such a lady. Her sense of humor and love of life were such a pleasure. We will miss her so much.
